Once there lived a young boy named Ethan who always complained about everything. Whether it was the weather, his food, or his homework, nothing ever made him happy. One day, his grandfather decided to teach him a lesson about gratitude.
He took Ethan to the kitchen and placed a potato, an egg, and some coffee beans into three separate pots of boiling water. After a few minutes, he asked Ethan to touch each one. The potato had become soft, the egg hard, and the coffee beans had changed the water into a rich, pleasant drink.
Grandfather smiled and said, “Each of these faced the same boiling water, but they reacted differently. The potato became weak, the egg became tough, and the coffee transformed the water itself.” Ethan understood the message — we can’t control what happens to us, but we can choose how to respond. From that day, he tried to face every situation with strength and positivity.
