Once there was a hungry dog who wandered through the village streets looking for food. After hours of searching, he finally found a juicy bone near a butcher’s shop. Pleased with his treasure, he quickly picked it up and trotted towards home, crossing a small wooden bridge over a stream.
While walking across the bridge, the dog looked down and saw his reflection in the water. Mistaking it for another dog with a bigger bone, he became greedy and barked loudly to snatch the other bone. As he opened his mouth, his own bone slipped out and fell into the stream, disappearing forever.
The poor dog stood on the bridge, sad and empty-handed. He learned that his greed had made him lose the valuable bone he already had. From that day on, the dog remembered not to be greedy, and always to be happy with what he already owned.
