Every morning, Maya walked to the little park near her house. She loved watching the old oak tree awaken with birds and sunlight. One day, she noticed a small, wrapped package tucked between the tree roots. Curious, she picked it up and found a handwritten note inside that simply said, "For someone who cares.
Maya decided to take the package home and opened it carefully. Inside was a tiny wooden whistle and a folded map of the park with a red circle under the oak tree. She felt excited and wondered who had left it and why. That afternoon, Maya returned to the park, whistle in her pocket and map in hand, hoping to learn more.
At the oak tree she met an elderly man named Mr. Patel who fed the birds every day. He smiled when Maya showed him the whistle and explained that long ago his late wife used to make wooden toys and hide little gifts for children. The whistle was a token of friendship; Mr. Patel hoped it would remind Maya to share small acts of kindness with others. Maya promised to do so and, from then on, used the whistle to call neighborhood children to help plant flowers around the park.
